Scary Ghosts and Playful Ghosts: Children’s Tales of Fright and Delight, by Melissa Harker Ridenour,is a collection of ghost stories targeted to upper elementary to middle school age students, as well as teens. The collection is divided into three parts. Part one, Scary Ghosts, offers three stories about scarier haunting experiences that are guaranteed to give readers just the right amount of fright. They are a little scary, but “not too scary.” Part two, Playful Ghosts, offers three stories about more mischievous ghosts that will delight young readers. Part three is called Do Ghosts Really Exist? It offers researched evidence claims of both believers and non-believers in the existence of ghosts.


The book was published on September 1, 2015 by Crimson Cloak Publishing and was illustrated by Sanghamitra Dasgupta.  It is now available on Amazonand Books-a-Million, , Barnes & Noble, and Apple, and many other online outlets in both paperback and e-book formats.

Bullying is a silent pandemic threat. The statistics on bullying in our schools, communities, and on the Internet are alarming. I would like to announce the release of my new children’s book that addresses this increasing concern, offering solutions for children, parents and schools alike.


The Bully and the Booger Baby: A Cautionary Tale is not only a fun and imaginative school story about a big bully, the kids he picks on, and a little boy robot who tries to lead the charge to stop the bullying problem in their school, but it is also an informational book. It includes two sections of researched and effective strategies and resources for children, parents, and teachers to help them better deal with today’s ever-increasing bullying problem.

The book is available now in paperback and Kindle on Amazon and also in paperback and Nook on Barnes and Noble and in paperback format on Books-A-Million. It is also available in the Ingrams and Baker & Taylor catalogues.
